Why Care Instructions Matter

The laser does the heavy lifting, but your results depend on what happens before and after each session. Good prep lets the laser reach the follicle at full strength, and good aftercare protects your skin while it does its work.

None of it is complicated. Two rules cover most of it: keep the follicle intact (shave, never wax or pluck) and keep the area out of the sun. Everything else below takes minutes.

    Before Your Appointment

2 weeks before: Stay out of direct sun and tanning beds, and stop using self-tanner on the treatment area. Tanned skin forces lower laser settings, which means weaker results.

4–6 weeks before: Stop waxing, plucking, threading, and epilating. These remove the follicle the laser needs to target. Shaving is always fine, because it leaves the follicle intact.

48 hours before: Pause retinol, glycolic acid, and other strong actives on the treatment area.

24 hours before: Shave the treatment area cleanly. For spots you cannot reach, like the back or shoulders, arrive a few minutes early and our team will help.

Day of: Arrive with clean, dry skin. No lotion, deodorant, makeup, or sunscreen on the treatment area. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

    After Your Session

First 24 hours: Mild redness or warmth is normal and fades within hours. Use a cool compress and a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer if skin feels warm. Skip hot baths, saunas, hard workouts, makeup and deodorant on the treated area, and direct sun. Days 2–14: Treated hairs shed gradually, which can look like regrowth but is the hair leaving the follicle. Let it happen naturally. After day 5, gentle exfoliation helps shedding along. Keep using SPF 30+ on any exposed treated area. Between sessions: Shave whenever you like, but never wax, pluck, or thread — your next session needs those follicles intact. Book your next visit 4–8 weeks out depending on your area.

Pre & Post Care FAQs, Glendale, CA

Answers to the care questions we hear most.

Come in anyway. If there is time, our team will shave the area for you. Unshaved surface hair absorbs laser energy before it reaches the follicle, so a clean shave the day before always gives the best result.

What to Expect After Each Session

Your skin responds in predictable stages — here's what happens from day one to your final result.

    FIRST 24 HOURS

Mild redness or warmth is normal and fades within hours. Use a cool compress and fragrance-free moisturizer. Skip hot baths, saunas, workouts, and sun exposure on the treated area.

    DAYS 2–14

Treated hairs shed gradually — this can look like regrowth but is the hair leaving the follicle. After day 5, gentle exfoliation helps. Keep using SPF 30+ on exposed areas.

    BETWEEN SESSIONS

Shave whenever you like, but never wax, pluck, or thread. Book your next visit 4–8 weeks out depending on your area. We will keep your spacing on track for optimal results.
